Peace Pillar
Overview
The Peace Pillar is composed of SDG16, which seeks to ensure a peaceful, just and inclusive existence for all people.
Approximately 23 percent of the world’s population lives in what is classified as a fragile context, including 77 percent of those in extreme poverty.
Status of the Synthesis
The Peace Pillar is co-led by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and UNDP. The first synthesis under this pillar is focused on violence prevention and peacebuilding. Initial findings are expected to be presented at the UN Summit of the Future in September 2024.
